Each of us is equipped with a miniature recording screen that can gauge the status of our health - the Iris. The cervical ganglion of the sympathetic nervous system conveys impressions from all over the body on to the surface layers of the iris. This connection is called the neuro-optic reflex.
Iridology is the analysis of the pathological, structural, functional and emotional disturbances in the body as seen through the iris. It offers practitioners the opportunity to view areas of weakness or vulnerability in the body and also areas where there is toxic build up.

Iridology research began in 1670 when Dr. Philippus Meyens published a paper describing the eyes of his patients when they became sick or injured. He also noticed changes in the eye that came with healing and was able to link points on the iris to specific parts of the body. By observing the eye, he was eventually able to identify areas in the body in need of support which would show up in the eye long before physical symptoms would manifest.
The founder of modern Iridology was Dr. Ignatz Von Peczley, a Hungarian physician known as "The Father of Iridology". When he was a child, he was attempting to release a trapped Owl when the bird broke it's leg. He observed a dark mark in the Owl's irid, which gradually turned white as the leg healed. As a doctor he mapped his patients illnesses via markings in the irid. His chart was published in 1880.
In 1950 an American, Dr. Bernard Jensen, pioneered the science of iridology in the US. He developed one of the most comprehensive irid charts showing the location of the organs as they reflect in the irid's of the eye. His chart is still the most accurate one available today.
In Europe, Iridology has evolved to the point where it is widely accepted as a valuable health tool.
"Your intuition is very approachable, comforting, grounding - the kind that nourishes and supports in the unseen ... your information on the eye is practical, but in a way, you frame it with some intuitive threads about the soul, which is also seen through the eyes". C. Graham
